PAGE — It was a busy week for the Coalition and other information sharing organizations at community resource and informational events in Page and Flagstaff, with the weather playing a role in both events.

Under warm and slightly windy conditions scattering resource information, the 4th Annual “Spring into Health Page Health & Wellness Fair” was held on Friday and Saturday, April 25-26 at the Page Public Library.

The event, presented by the Page Early Childhood Group and BlueCross BlueShield of Arizona, featured a number of information tables for parents staffed by representatives from the Arizona Dept. of Economic SecurityArizona Early Intervention Program (AzEIP), BlueCross BlueShield — Health Choice, Chicanos Por La Causa — Parenting Arizona, Child Care Resources & Referral, Coconino Coalition for Children & Youth, Coconino County Health & Human Services — (AZ Health Zone, Health and Wellness Team), information from First Things First, Glen Canyon Outdoor Academy, Native American Disability Law Center,  Navajo Nation Division of Behavioral & Mental Health Services, Northland-Rural Therapy Associates (NRTA), Page Head Start, Raising Special Kids, Page Unified Preschool and Tuba City Regional Health Care Corp.

The event included free dental screenings (including sealants, x-rays and cleanings) provided by Flagstaff Dentistry 4 Kids, early childhood resources, prizes and giveaways. On Friday alone, more than 60 children had received dental screenings.

BlueCross BlueShield of Arizona, which attended day one of “Spring into Health,” provided dozens of food bags during the event. See other day one photos below.

FLAGSTAFF — The wind certainly picked up on Saturday, April 26, 2025 during the 2025 Annual Community STEM Celebration held at the Fort Tuthill Fairgrounds. With steady winds of 25 MPH, with the occasional gusts topping 45, the free event still drew a respectable crowd according to organizers.

“Despite the windy conditions we ended up with over 1300 attendees plus about 150 exhibitors,” said Eli Cohen, Flagstaff STEM City Coordinator “The energy seemed great and all the attendees were very excited to participate in the activities and learn all about the STEM opportunities here in Flag.”

This year’s event was the first held in partnership with the Lunar Legacy Invitational — bringing even more opportunities for hands-on STEM exploration for visitors.

The Lunar Legacy Invitational welcomed robotics teams from across the Southwest to celebrate Flagstaff’s rich history in space exploration. Teams competed in space-themed challenges, earned awards and explored STEM exhibits—continuing the legacy of innovation in our community, organizers said.

From robotic vehicles courtesy of Coconino High School’s CocoNuts Robotics Team and Tinkertopia Inc. to displays by the Arboretum at Flagstaff, Coconino Amateur Radio Club, Flagstaff Open Space, Grand Canyon Youth, Guardian Air Transport, the Meteor Crater Education Alliance, Northern Arizona University’s Dept. of Astronomy and U.S. Geological Survey, families had the opportunity to explore a variety of science fields.

At the Coalition table, youth had the chance to pick up materials about the physics behind rockets (thrust, weight, air friction), creation of water rockets and also received hand-on experience by launching air rockets during extremely windy conditions.
