Registration continues for CCC&Y’s System Change Symposium, a virtual community experience on Oct. 22 or 23

COCONINO COUNTY — Kevin Campbell, an American Child Protection, Health Care Innovator and co-founder of Pale Blue, will be one of two keynote speakers at the Coconino Coalition of Children & Youth’s “System Change Symposium” Zoom presentation. Participants can choose Oct. 22 or Oct. 23 to attend the Virtual Community Experience.

Joining Campbell at the virtual 2-part midday presentation is Elizabeth Wendel, MSW, LSW, president and co-founder and CEO of Pale Blue, a collaborative organization that seeks to disseminate learning and participatory methods at the intersection of the three e’s: Equality, Economics, and the Environment.

Kevin and Elizabeth’s presentation will help viewers understand the human toll and outcomes of current systems and give us practical ideas for making change now.

 

System Change:

  • The System Change Symposium will provide details on What is System Change? Why Do We Need It? How Do We Make It Happen?
  • It will also provide information on How do we come together for true change? How do we address root cause issues and create positive outcomes, health and thriving for all?

 

The System Change Symposium will also include such presenters as:

  • David Martinez III of Vitalist Health Foundation, who will talk about “What is Systems Change and Why They Fund It”
  • Iya Affo, founder of Heal Historical Trauma, who will provide examples of policy, systems and inequity
  • Andrea Meronuck of Northland Family Health Center and Pearl Santillan of First Things First, who will provide information on mindfulness, self compassion and/or mental health models
  • Dr. Sandra Solano, founder of Integro, who will talk about HeartMath, trauma and use for systems change work
  • and a message from Flagstaff Mayor, Becky Daggett

The event will be hosted by CCC&Y Executive Director Virginia Watahomigie, who will speak about the Coalition’s Reimagine Community Project — A Trauma-Informed System Change program the Coalition is partnering with the City of Flagstaff and Coconino County. CCC&Y was one of four organizations in Arizona to be selected for the Vitalyst Health Foundation’s System Change Grant

The event is free for those who live or work in Coconino County, $20 full day for all others. Both days, 9 a.m. to 3 p.m. Tuesday and Wednesday, Oct. 22, 23, have the same content and speakers. Register HERE for Oct. 22, or HERE for Oct. 23.

About the presenters:

Kevin Campbell developed Family FindingTM and Family SeeingTM, a set of strategies now utilized throughout North America, Australia, and Western Europe to convene, catalyze, and facilitate families, communities, and governments in their work to respond to the problems that most affect our lives and futures. Kevin redefines holistic health beyond traditional medical settings, emphasizing community and family well-being. Elizabeth Wendel  is an accomplished expert and author in Family FindingTM and Family SeeingTM. Her work began in Philadelphia, where she established the Family Finding program and provided services to over 10,000 young people, connecting them with over 26,000 supportive kinship and relational connections. She dedicates her career to justice alongside young people, parents, and families and is privileged to work alongside communities and organizations around the globe.

Iya Affo has earned Western Certification as a Trauma Specialist and is a descendant of a long line of traditional healers from Benin Republic, West Africa. Iya has visited more than 30 countries around the world. Iya strives to cultivate love and inclusivity in hopes of facilitating the decolonization and subsequent healing of indigenous people. She advocates for the harmonization of Traditional Medicine and Western Medicine to facilitate holistic healing.

Dr. Sandra Solano, originally from Bogota, Colombia, is a healthcare professional with 30 years of experience as a healthcare executive and consultant. She practices in New Albany, Ohio, where she promotes integrative health and wellness, merging her extensive background in public health with holistic approaches to empower individuals, teams, and organizations to manage stress, conflict, and challenges through emotional self-regulation. As a certified HeartMathTM master trainer, Dr. Solano has coached and trained new trainers for Fortune 500 companies and some of the largest healthcare systems in the United States.
