The STAR School is a charter elementary school located 30 miles east of Flagstaff, Arizona. The school serves students in pre-school through grade 8 who live in the southwest corner of the Navajo Nation and the surrounding rural area. The STAR School is the country’s first off grid, solar/wind powered charter school in the country and proud to be one of two Arizona schools to receive the prestigious 2012 US Dept. of Education Green Ribbon School award.

We work with the whole family to provide medical, dental, nutritional & mental health support. We partner with parents to support their learning interests and goals for the future while working with community partners and services to enhance and support those goals. We are NAEYC Accredited and provide all of these services at no cost to the families if families qualify. Full Day & half-Day Classrooms & Home Base services are available to meet families in the way that best fits their needs, and children with special needs are welcome.
