CCC&Y Spotlight — Coalition outreach efforts continue with Flagstaff Mall event, upcoming STEM Celebration on April 27

COCONINO COUNTY — With a variety of children and youth entertainers performing on the main stage, representatives from various community health and welfare organizations—  including CCC&Y — shared information with parents at the annual “Celebration of Youth Day with Performing Arts” event on April 19, 2024 at the Flagstaff Mall.

Presented by the Flagstaff Mall, the event featured a number of information tables for parents staffed by representatives from the Arizona Dept. of Economic Security — Arizona Early Intervention Program (AzEIP), Boys & Girls Club of Flagstaff, Coconino Coalition for Children & Youth, Coconino Court Appointed Special Advocates for Children (CASA), FIT4MOM, Lived Black Experience in Flagstaff, Northern AZ Chess, North Country HealthCare and Northland Family Help Center.

… Up next for the Coalition’s outreach effort will be the 2024 Annual Community STEM Celebration to be held from 1 to 4 p.m. Saturday, April 24, 2024 at the Fort Tuthill Fairgrounds.

Flagstaff STEM City invites everyone to join in this FREE celebration of knowledge, innovation, and community collaboration featuring both indoor and outdoor exhibits.

Education Spotlight — CCC&Y, school partners, to present ‘Community Healing Change — Training, Meal & Discussion’ in recognition of April as Child Abuse Prevention Month. See more local, state and national education news here

The Coconino Coalition for Children & Youth — in partnership with Fredonia Elementary School, Puente de Hozho in Flagstaff and the Page Unified School District — will present the training series “Community Healing Change — Training, Meal & Discussion” in recognition of April as Child Abuse Prevention Month.

You can register to attend the live viewing parties where food, discussion and prizes are available.

The Fredonia training will be held from 5:30 to 7 p.m. Monday, April 17. Register with Jeanne Crookston: jeanne@fredonia.org

The Puente de Hozho training (English and Spanish-language flyers) will be held from 5 to 6 p.m. Tuesday, April 18. Register with Kimberly Robinson at krobinson0904@gmail.com

Connections Spotlight: Self-healing, -helping communities assisting students, families overcome coronavirus challenges

During times of crisis, people have an amazing ability to adapt, get over the shock and get to work to mitigate or solve the problem.

Such is the case with our current challenge, the coronavirus (COVID-19) emergency.

Stay-at-home orders, school closures and other issues have rapidly confronted everyone, from political leaders to emergency responders, parents and students.

And true to our nature, individuals and organizations are rapidly coming up with a variety of creative solutions to tackle such issues as feeding students who are unable to return to the classroom, and at-home and distance-learning options to continue the education of our youth.

Within this e-newsletter, our readers will find a variety of links to stories and resources to help us face the challenge of many of these issues and meet the mind, body and spirit needs of our community.
