Variety of speakers take part in CCC&Y’s System Change Symposium on Oct. 22-23, 2024

COCONINO COUNTY — A number of speakers from a variety of backgrounds presented at the Coconino Coalition of Children & Youth’s “System Change Symposium” Zoom presentation on Oct. 22-23, 2024.

They included:

Kevin Campbell, an American Child Protection, Health Care Innovator and co-founder of Pale Blue, developed Family FindingTM and Family SeeingTM, a set of strategies now utilized throughout North America, Australia, and Western Europe to convene, catalyze, and facilitate families, communities, and governments in their work to respond to the problems that most affect our lives and futures. Kevin redefines holistic health beyond traditional medical settings, emphasizing community and family well-being. His strategies have influenced major health plans in the U.S., improving healthcare access and quality for millions. Kevin’s impactful work led to including Family FindingTM in several U.S. federal laws, significantly changing the idea of child and family well-being in the US and around the globe.

David Martinez III, director of Strategic Community Partnership, with Vitalyst Health Foundation. In this role, he oversees the foundation’s capacity-building and grant programs and Civic Health portfolio. This includes leading the Vitalyst Grants & Partnerships Team to build and steward community and partner relationships.

Iya Affo has earned Western Certification as a Trauma Specialist and is a descendant of a long line of traditional healers from Benin Republic, West Africa. Iya has visited more than 30 countries around the world. Iya strives to cultivate love and inclusivity in hopes of facilitating the decolonization and subsequent healing of indigenous people. She advocates for the harmonization of Traditional Medicine and Western Medicine to facilitate holistic healing.

Dr. Sandra Solano, founder of Integro, talked about HeartMath, trauma and use for systems change work. Originally from Bogota, Colombia, she is a healthcare professional with 30 years of experience as a healthcare executive and consultant. She practices in New Albany, Ohio, where she promotes integrative health and wellness, merging her extensive background in public health with holistic approaches to empower individuals, teams, and organizations to manage stress, conflict, and challenges through emotional self-regulation. As a certified HeartMathTM master trainer, Dr. Solano has coached and trained new trainers for Fortune 500 companies and some of the largest healthcare systems in the United States.

Andrea Meronuck of Northland Family Health Center and Pearl Santillan of First Things First, presented the session “Showing Up for Change, ” which provided information on mindfulness, self compassion and/or mental health models.
