Connections Spotlight — City of Flagstaff proclaims April 2023 as Child Abuse Prevention Month

The City of Flagstaff proclaimed April 2023 as Child Abuse Prevention Month on during an official ceremony attended by members of the Coconino Coalition for Children & Youth on April 4 at the Flagstaff City Council chambers.

The proclamation was presented by Mayor Becky Daggett to CCC&Y Board members Heather Marcy, Deputy Director, Northland Family Help Center; Laura Rosensweet, M.Ed, Community Impact Manager, Education Forward AZ; Jacelyn Salabye, MSW, Native Americans for Community Action; with CCC&Y Executive Director Virginia Watahomigie attending via Zoom.

Williams honors 2019 Child Abuse Prevention Month with placement of 79 pinwheels at city’s pocket park

Pinwheels twirled in the breeze as guest speakers spoke of the significance of April as Child Abuse Prevention Month during a ceremony held Saturday, April 6 at the Williams Pocket Park near the city “Red Train Car” bridge.Guest speakers including Coconino County District 3 Supervisor Matt Ryan, District 1 Supervisor Matt Ryan, Williams Mayor John Moore, CCC&Y Executive Director Virginia Watahomigie, Jennifer Runge and other staff members from Victim Witness Services Coconino County.

Child Abuse Prevention Month (April 2019) kicks off with official City of Flagstaff proclamation

Variety of events planned throughout region including walk in Tuba City on April 4, Field of Hope dedication ceremony on April 5 in Flagstaff.

Child Abuse Prevention Month kicked off in April with the reading of the official proclamation by the City of Flagstaff at its regular City Council meeting on Tuesday, April 2, 2019.

The proclamation was presented to CCC&Y Executive Director Virginia Watahomigie by members of the Flagstaff City Council and Mayor Coral Evans.
